As we begin a new year, our team took time to reflect on what matters most—what we’re carrying forward, what we’re letting go of, and how we want to show up for our families, clients, and one another.
Below, members of the Princeton Global team share a word, phrase, or special moment that is shaping their focus for 2026. These personal reflections offer a glimpse into each of us-our values, our lives, and intentionality behind the work we do every day.
Brett Shaver
A special holiday memory was keeping our Christmas Eve tradition alive in Princeton—gathering with close friends and ending the night with a laugh-out-loud game of charades and an adapted version of The Twelve Days of Christmas.
We also enjoyed a special family day in New York City, soaking in the holiday energy around Rockefeller Center. NYC truly is one of the best places to celebrate the season—and the steak at Del Frisco’s was an added bonus.
Dan Hanley
One special memory from the 2025 holidays was spending meaningful time together as a family, including ringing in the New Year in Barbados. Family remains at the center of everything for me.
Erica Bullinger
A meaningful memory from the 2025 holidays was spending time with family and extended family. With four kids ages 3 to 12, the excitement leading up to Christmas Day was palpable and contagious.
What I cherished most was stepping out of the usual weekly hustle and enjoying true downtime with my husband, children, and extended family. Highlights included watching my youngest proudly ride his new Spiderman motorcycle through the kitchen and several competitive rounds of laser tag—where my kids learned I don’t always let them win.
My phrase for 2026 is “Clear is Kind.” Inspired by Brené Brown’s work, this principle guides how I hope to show up—through honest feedback, clear expectations, and creating environments where people feel valued, seen, and empowered.

In 2026, my focus is alignment. I want to be more intentional about noticing the people, places, and experiences that help me feel most like myself. Three words that deeply resonate with my personal purpose are connection, creativity, and community. Embracing these fully requires greater alignment in how I live and work.
This focus feels especially important during this busy stage of life, filled with family schedules and energetic little ones. Alignment reminds me to pause, reflect, and stay grounded.

On October 21st, I lost my best friend, Brett, who took his own life, leaving behind his wife and two young children.
In a lifetime, you may have several best friends. For me, Brett was my best friend in every sense—kind, loyal, and someone who never took advantage of my people-pleasing nature.
Healing is my word for 2026. I know he can never be replaced, and I wouldn’t trade the time we had together. I’m moving forward with gratitude for that bond, even as I continue to grieve.
Joel Heymsfeld
My word for 2026 is Flexibility. To me, flexibility means recognizing that circumstances—both personal and financial—can change dramatically and unexpectedly, and being willing to adapt our thinking and actions in response.
Matt Gelfand
My phrase for 2026 is “The Three R’s”: reading, writing, and arithmetic.
Investment management is inherently quantitative, but it’s best informed by deep reading and thoughtful research. In 2026, I hope to go beyond day-to-day arithmetic and reading to conduct relevant, basic research that expands my perspective on investing.
Matt Selihar
Growth is my word for 2026. It will be a year of continued personal growth for me and my family, and a year where I welcome new families and help them move confidently toward their goals.
Mike Marsh
My word for 2026 is Gratitude (Latin: gratia). I am grateful for my nonprofit clients, prospective clients, family, friends, and health. All are gifts.
Richard Moseley
I am thankful this year for the rejuvenating power of Nature – who amazed this year with a record shagbark hickory nut windfall. It doesn’t happen every year, but when it does, it means sharing delectable treats with friends and family.
We got our first celebrity endorsement too! A well-known talk show host we gifted to, exclaimed to his audience, “I just found out that I love shagbark hickory nuts!” That was fun.
Rob Spadaford
My word for 2026 is Responsibility—owning your actions is fundamental to meaningful change and personal growth.
I’m also focusing on being more intentional about where I spend my energy. Not every disagreement needs to be resolved, and not every perspective is meant to be changed. Learning when to engage—and when to step back—creates space for what truly matters.
Tara Bansal
Pause is my word for 2026. I want to slow down and be more intentional with my time and with what I say yes to. My focus is quality over quantity—in my work, relationships, and daily life—and pausing creates the space for that.
This holiday season felt especially meaningful. Most of my local family, along with one of my sisters from Oregon, were together for both Christmas and New Year’s. A New Year’s wig party brought a lot of laughter and joy—one of those moments I will remember for a long time to come.
